What is Aviationlex?Deleting your account

Deleting your account

You can delete your Aviationlex account yourself, at any time, without asking us. This page describes exactly what happens, how long it takes, and what survives the deletion.

Before you delete: export your data

Open My Account → Delete account and choose Download my data first. You receive a JSON file containing your profile, folders, pinned items, Avlex question history, training progress and attempts, support tickets, Miles+ ledger and licence certificates.

⚠️

After the deletion completes, this export can no longer be produced. Download it while your account still exists.

How to delete

  1. Open My Account → Delete account.
  2. Confirm the request. We send a confirmation link to your email address.
  3. Click the link in that email.

Your account is then scheduled for deletion in 72 hours.

The 72 hours in between

The waiting period exists so that a deletion clicked by mistake, or by someone who briefly had access to your device, can still be undone.

During this time:

  • You can sign in and cancel the deletion at any time, from the same page.
  • Your subscription continues; we do not cancel it early on your behalf.
  • Nothing is deleted yet.

If you do nothing, the deletion runs automatically once the 72 hours have passed. There is no further email.

What is deleted

Everything tied to your person:

  • Your sign-in and profile, including name, date of birth, avatar and phone
  • Folders, pinned regulations and your search history
  • Every Avlex question and answer you have asked
  • Training progress, attempts and results
  • Support tickets and their conversations
  • Your Miles+ balance and its ledger
  • Uploaded files, including licence certificates
  • Your customer record with our payment provider (Stripe) and your entry in our email delivery service (Resend)

This is irreversible. We keep no shadow copy from which an account could be restored.

What remains, and why

Invoices and payment records. German tax law (§ 147 AO) requires us to retain billing records for up to ten years. We cannot delete them on request, they are stored in anonymised form, and we do not use them for anything else.

Credit already paid for. Fees for the current billing period, unused question quota and Miles+ expire with the deletion and are not refunded. Mandatory statutory rights, in particular any right of withdrawal, are unaffected.

Anonymous statistics. Counts that no longer point to any person - for example how many questions were asked in a month - remain, because they contain nothing about you.

A record that the deletion took place. We log the date of the deletion without the deleted data, so that we can prove we carried it out.

If something goes wrong

If the automatic deletion fails - which we monitor - the request stays in an error state and we complete it by hand. Your data is not released in the meantime. If you want confirmation, write to support@aviationlex.com.

Enterprise accounts

If you belong to an organisation, deleting your own account removes you from its courses. It does not delete the organisation or anyone else’s account. Your organisation administrator sees that the seat has been freed.

Your rights

Deletion is your right under Art. 17 GDPR. The export above serves Art. 15 and Art. 20. If you would rather have us produce the export for you, ask support and we will send it to the address on your account.
